Alaska
Talkeetna   is an Alaskan word meaning "Where three rivers meet". The village of Talkeetna was established in 1896, before Anchorage was founded. It lies 120 miles north of Anchorage at mile 99 of the Parks Highway.

The Talkeetna, Susitna and Chulitna rivers come together a few miles from Talkeetna Bed & Breakfast. Dozens of other streams and lakes are nearby.

King Salmon, Silver Salmon, Sockeye Salmon, Chums and Pinks are found in the rivers. In lakes you'll also find Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden and Arctic Grayling.

Talkeetna is also known for it's colorful local residents. One of the annual events - Talkeetna Winterfest - combines bidding for eligible Mountain Men with a competition for the hardiest Wilderness Woman. Other renowned festivals in Talkeetna include the Talkeetna Moose Dropping Festival in July and the annual Bluegrass Festival in August. Nagley's Store, Talkeetna's general store has everything you might want from groceries to camping supplies, ice, gifts, a liquor store and an espresso machine.

Talkeetna still wears the charm and color of a frontier town, but civilization is only a few hours away in Anchorage.

Mount Mckinley
Denali National Park, is only a few miles from the Talkeetna Bed & Breakfast and the view from Talkeetna is breathtaking.

It's more than a mountain. Denali National Park & Preserve features North America's highest mountain, 20,320-foot tall Mount McKinley. The Alaska Range also includes countless other spectacular mountains and many large glaciers. Denali's more than 6 million acres also encompass a complete sub-arctic eco-system with large mammals such as Grizzly Bears, wolves, Dall Sheep, and moose.

Today the park accommodates a wide variety of visitor use including wildlife viewing, mountaineering, and backpacking. It continues to provide a laboratory for research in the natural sciences.



Although fewer than 1,000 people make Talkeetna their home, the town is the largest in the Alaska Range region. It is an important jumping-off point for flight seeing trips over Denali National Park and Preserve and for Mountain Climbers from all over the world attempting to reach the summit of Mckinley.The town sits on the banks of the Talkeetna River, popular for rafting, fishing and boating trips. Hiking, hunting, biking, skiing, climbing, mushing, snow machining and other outdoor recreation abounds.

Rail & Air access to Talkeetna Bed and Breakfast offer stress-free vacation travel. Talkeetna is about three hours from Anchorage by the Alaska Railroad, less than one hour by plane.

Our own staff will pick you up at the airport or train station. The Alaska Park Connection Coach travels through Talkeetna each day on it's way to Denali.
